Where's Sahnar?
Sunrise, 6th of Nightal, 1489 (New Moon -15)
Sahnar is Missing
- Sahnar has not checked in, and Nimsy Huddle fears the worst, requesting that the players come to Lonelywood immediately. The group decides to travel there using a dog sled, which Merken successfully handles to make the journey faster. They arrive in Lonelywood in just over an hour, with Orion summoning his fey elk mount and Twiggy enjoying the ride on the sled.
- Orion and Bragnar approach a group of goblins behaving strangely near Lonelywood. The goblins initially claim to be birdwatching but quickly admit they were hired by a hooded lady in the mountains. Their task is to act suspiciously to keep a moon elf occupied. The party is unsure how to proceed, as they need to gather information about goblin camps but also have a council meeting to attend.
- The group discusses a mysterious hooded woman who hired goblins to cause a distraction. They attempt to capture one of the goblins but fail. The conversation then shifts to their political mission, revealing they need to convince either Termalaine or Easthaven to support their cause in an upcoming council vote. They decide to head to Termalaine next.
Danae's Betrayal
- Upon arriving back in Lonelywood from the forest, they find Speaker Nimsy Huddle at the Lonelywood#The Pick and Pint (formerly Ramshackle Inn), visibly upset. She confronts the group, questioning her leadership abilities and comparing herself to Duvessa. Orion suspects this is a result of political maneuvering, likely by Naerth Maxildannar and his associates.
- The group discusses their encounter with Ravisin , who accused Duvessa Shane of killing her sister. They claim Ravisin cast moonlight and threatened to kill Ten-Towners, forcing them to fight. Nimsy Huddle confronts them with information from a supposed journal, suggesting they killed Bardley to keep secrets. The group denies this, claiming they're being manipulated. Nimsy Huddle decides not to arrest them but expresses her distrust.
- (x:: In the meeting, the team discussed a potential forgery of notes by Danae Xotal, which could have serious consequences. They decided to split the party, with Johnny investigating in Lonelywood and the others going to Termalaine to address a problem with the standing militia.
Rescuing Oarus
- Merken, in cat form, manages to sneak into the town hall in Termalaine after initial failed attempts. Inside, he overhears a conversation between Speaker Oarus Masthew and three militia members. The militia offers to support Masthew and follow his orders if he votes against raising a standing army at the Council meeting. They explain their concern about being drafted if an army is created. Merken relays this information to Johnny, who is observing from outside, using the Message cantrip.
- The group enters combat with some militia members after Bragnar attempts to intimidate them. Orion uses his celestial revelation ability to transform and frighten the enemies. The party manages to scare off some of the militia, but ends up in a fight with the remaining veterans inside a meeting room. The veterans attack the party members but mostly miss due to being frightened, though Orion takes some damage. The situation remains tense as the combat continues.
- The group successfully convinces Oarus Masthew to support their cause after a tense confrontation with his militia. They defeat the remaining militia members and escort the speaker safely to Bryn Shander for the upcoming Council of Speakers vote. Orion has an ominous dream about Auril the Frost Maiden warning of a great danger approaching. The party rests and prepares for the critical council meeting the next day.
